Running and playing
I completed my second 5K run of the season this past weekend and was 3rd in my age group. As I was running Jacob and Kathie watched. Jake got upset because we wanted to run as well. Good thing there was a playground for him to burn some energy.
We also visited a small zoo this weekend. They had Eagles, and Otters and other wildcats. The highlights for Jacob was the turkeys in their pen. He chased them around, then the turkey chased him. He seemed to really enjoy the animals. We plan to visit the Henry Doorly zoo during our 4th of July vacation.
Other than that news, we are getting ready for Kathie to be out of the country for a week. She is speaking at a conference in Germany next week. That leaves Jake and I to hold down the fort.

Settling in to a pattern
Well, we have been at the apartment for 1 and 1/2 weeks, and we are getting used to it. We don't plan to get very comfortable, but we are living. I have another 5K run coming up and am exercising almost everyday. Jacob is doing well, and has met our neighbor dogs.
We did you to a local nature park and walked around. The had a building with big fish, turtles and snakes. Jacob loved to run around and look at all of the animals. We then went out to walk around the pond. Jacob and I fed the duck his graham gold fish crackers. He had a great time.
The house is coming together quickly. The tile should be in and grouted by now. The contractors doing the tile, estimated a couple of days for plumbing and carpet and other items. We are very excited about the house and even met the neighbors.

Playing catchup
It’s been a LONG time since our last blog post, and it’s been a busy couple of months! We put our house on the market in mid-February, and it sold after just 2 days. Construction started on our new place in Stewartville on March 1st, and should be ready by mid-May…but we already closed on the old place last week, so we’re camping out in an apartment for a couple of months. We keep telling ourselves that it’s just temporary, so we’ll deal with the small space and having most of our stuff in storage for now. And we’ll really appreciate the big new house once we’re moved in.
Kathie had a quick trip to Chicago for a work conference back in February and is gearing up for her presentation in Germany next month. Jon’s busy at work, and looking forward to a week alone with Jacob. Jon also just ran his first 5K of the year, and has a few more races picked out for the months ahead.
Jacob’s continuing to grow and amaze us. He now talks constantly, and loves playing outside. Jake’s also looking forward to his new house in Stewartville, which will be complete with a swing set in the backyard. Every time we go to visit the new place, Jake doesn’t want to leave!
Be sure to check out the flickr photostream, and the vimeo video links to the right. We’ll probably be pretty busy over the next 6-8 weeks with moving for the 2nd time this spring and getting settled in the new place, so this will be the best way to see how things are going.

House update
Be sure to check back for updates on the building process and the selling of our current house. So we have signed a purchase agreement to build the new house. Now we have to approve a preliminary blueprint and then they start digging.
Our current house is being cleaned and should be ready to be listed on February 17th. We then have an open house that next weekend, so we really need to be ready. We will be listing at $139,900 to start.

February update
We have been getting the house ready for another round on the market. We have also decided on building a new home in Stewartville MN. This small town is about 5 miles from Rochester so we are not moving that far. We still have the final details to wrap up, but should be in our new home in June. We plan to keep updates on that progress and well as Jacob.
Jon's company has grown and stays quite busy. Kathie's work has her traveling to Chicago and Germany this spring as well. So Jon and Jacob get some quality father/son bonding time in. He now says a handful of words including: go, no, kitty, down, touch down, uh oh, Kayla (daycare lady) don't and Mom. Tyler is still calm around Jacob and even lets Jake poke him in the face. Izzie will move fast and hide in high places.
