We're back

We have sorted the gifts and are settled again. We have started moving items around to get the baby's room ready. The computer room has been rearranged and we are waited to move the extra bed and dresser down. We are both really excited.

Kathie and Jon really enjoyed the vacation and the cats have told us not to leave for that long for a while. The mini R/C helicopters keep them entertained, and Jon terrorizes them with the USB missle launcher. Tyler and Izzie are both happy to see us home.

We will find out weither Bert is a boy or girl later this month, and we'll let everyone know. Jon will be updating the website with new text and pictures over the next few weeks. Be sure to track the updates, and I'll let you know in the newsletters.

We have survived Christmas!

Jon and Kathie are back from their vacation. The cats are still happy to see us and the tree is still up. We enjoyed visiting our families and not shopping over the weekend. I'll have an update on Bert and Kathie, and the gifts as well.

I'll be a little busy sort the gifts, getting groceries, taking down the decorations, and updating the blog, and website. We did not forget about the picture of the belly, we will have that updated as well.

Have a happy new year!

Ready for vacation

Jon and Kathie are ready to take a break from work. We are excited to visit our families as this will be the first we have seen them since the big news. It is still cold and gray here. Usual Minnesota winter weather. We decided to have a little fun with the cats. Below are some pictures... and a video.

And below..this is how our cats get most of their water.....

Kathie is feeling about the same as last week. We had an appointment this past week, and everything is looking great. In the ultrasound we saw Bert's spine. He is still moving around quite a bit.

We are done with Christmas shopping and only had to go to the mall twice. It was a madhouse on Saturday. As we will be traveling around Iowa over the next week or so, this may not be updated until after Christmas. So we hope everyone travels and has a safe holiday season.

Merry Christmas from Jon and Kathie!!!

Commodore 64, my first computer

There have been a couple of stories I saw on the Internet about my first computer. Using this computer helped my eye sight and get me interested in computing. Well, the computer turns 25 years old this year, and I guess that makes me feel a little older. Check out the articles about the computer:

Wired
CNN

Now I have two computers at home. A dell laptop and a desktop. I work with computers and the Internet everyday, and I got my start with the Commodore 64.

How much snow???

Kathie yesterday announced that she is done with winter. I admitted I could take about another week. With temps in the teen and twenties, and 6 to 8 inches of snow, winter is here in force. Our snow thrower has gotten a workout. Good thing I got some gas for it this last week.

Check out the new pictures of Kathie's belly.

Party time!!!

Jon and Kathie went to Jon's company's holiday party. The employees and significant others met at CWS for snacks. We talked and waited for the party bus to show up. We boarded and rode up to Minneapolis. The driver flew up there and we stopped halfway up for a bathroom break.

We ended up at Harry's restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. We had appetizers and drinks. Jon enjoyed a steak and Kathie had the fried fish. Both were good. We then relaxed and talked until it was time to head home. The group finally arrived home around 11:00.

Learning on the Job

I have been learning a lot over the past 3 months at my new job. I've had to learn the billing system, how to process payments, renewing web site domain names, and Search Engine Optimization.

I have been taking a online course to teach me online marketing, how to make a web site more search engine friendly, and help move a web site up in the search rankings. I have completed the course last week, and now have this to show for it, along with my new knowledge.

Web CEO Certified

Kathie and I have been busy at our respective jobs, and enjoy them very much. Kathie has found stretchy dress pants and will not go back for quite a while. The cats have not taken down the tree, but have continued to test our patience by trying to get the lights and ornaments down. They also love to chew on the plastic.

We hope everyone is staying safe while shopping and thank you for visiting our blog and site.

Albino Brain Chiggers

A.k.a. snow. We had our first snow storm this year. 4 inches and a 1/4 inch of ice made for a fun time driving, let alone walking. Izzie had her first experience smelling snow. Below a picture of the cats enjoying the snow brought in by Jon.
Everything else is going well. Jobs are keeping both of us busy during the day, and the cats are keeping us entertained in the evening. Watching college football, and cussing the BCS, is our usual Saturday. Not shopping in any store is what we plan to do this year. So it is like Christmas here everyday we come home and see another package we ordered.

We hope everyone is having a good and safe season, and continue to wish nothing but the best for everyone.

The tree is up...

And the cats want it down. Or at least to take the lights and ornaments down. Right now our tree has no lights on the bottom third. This should help with the cat issue. No lights outside this year. After we had our new roof put on, it was to cold to get on the roof to put up lights. There are presents under the tree, and most times at least one cat.

Kathie is continuing her up swing. Sleeping less and feeling better. Both of which are making her happier. We have gotten her some pants that fit, and will fit later. This made her feel a lot better.

Well now a picture of the cats...

Shopping and updates

Jon and Kathie are shopping for each other and the family for Christmas. We are doing most of our shopping online, as we are busy working when the stores are not busy, and home when they are. Most of Jon's shopping is done, and Kathie is about halfway there.

We have updates a couple of pages on the website. We have also included a sign up for our email newsletter. Ther are pictures of the cats and new ones of Koryn.

Both of our jobs are going well. We are both busy and are enjoying our jobs. Kathie is feeling better most days, and is sleeping a little less. We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stays safe this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving and other news

Jon and Kathie want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you all travel safely, and enjoy your Thanksgiving day.

We have elected to stay home this holiday, and travel to both sets of parents over the Christmas holiday. Jon and Kathie plan to have the fireplace going, and sit down to a nice turkey dinner. Of course we will watch the football games on Thursday, and even more on Saturday.

On other news, Tyler is now on a diet. He protests by waking Jon up between 1 and 4 in the morning. Izzie doesn't mind it much, we think. He is now 14 pounds and she is about 7 to 8 pounds.

Over this weekend, Jon will update the website with new pictures of Kathie, and a couple of the cats. Kathie is slightly starting to show, so I'll have some pictures up about that. Look for more updates in our weekly newsletter, and soon, I'll have a sign up for that both here and on our web site.

Feeling better and making lists

Kathie is feeling better. Not all of the way better, but better enough to want to start making Christmas lists for us and for family members. We have a couple of ideas and have not really thought about presents or even shopping. After going to Target on Saturday, we have decided to miss most of the headaches and shop online.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and if you are traveling, drive or travel safely.

"Operation Name Bert" has begun

Yes, we are looking at names for the baby. So far we have a couple of ideas. Just a couple:

Boys

  1. Jacob Roger
  2. William
  3. Joseph
  4. Micheal

Girls

  1. Caroline
  2. Emilie

Yes, only two girls names right now. We kind of ran out of steam after looking at boys names. If you have comments or any ideas, please leave a note here or email Jon at jonbernhardt@charter.net.

Medicine is good and I am tired of Chicken

After our recent appointment, we asked for some medicine to help Kathie get through the morning sickness. We got some, and it has helped. She is still sleepy, but she feels better. This is a good thing, as she now just lays on the couch in the evenings and we watch TV. Well, I guess that is normal for us. Anyway, note to those who are pregnant and have morning sickness, there is medicine that can help, and don't be afraid to ask for it.

Has anyone seen "My Little Sunshine"? If you have then you will understand..."Chicken?! Again with the $%#%((* chicken?!" Kathie's stomach and Bert really like chicken and turkey. So that is what I make. Chicken patties, grilled chicken, fried chicken and chicken strips are common now. I do get a hamburger every once in a while and we have found that the buffet is very helpful as well. She gets what she wants, and I eat what I wish, which sometimes is chicken. All well, soon we will move into the second trimester and hopefully a wider selection of food.

New picture of "Bert"

We have decided to call the baby Bert for now. We do not know if it is a boy or girl yet, but did not want to refer to the baby as it, or the baby. So we decided on Bert. Besides, twins run in both of our families, so it could have been easily expanded to Bert and Ernie.

Everything is looking good. Bert is 10 weeks along and kicking. Yes, he was waving and kicking during our latest ultrasound. It was really cool. Well, here he is.....
