A long night again leads into a long day. I was busy at work and Jacob kept Kathie busy at home. He was fussy all day and was just starting to drive Kathie up the wall when I got home. I told her to go out and get out of the house and get supper and go shopping (always good therapy).
Of course Jacob calmed down a little, but was fussy. I finally got him to nap enough to have some Taco John's that Kathie brought home. He then was awake and it was bath night. He always screams on bath night. He then finally went down around 10:15 PM and slept for 4 hours. So a better night was had by all.
The latest and maybe kind of greatest news from Jon, Kathie and Jacob Bernhardt and Tyler and Izzie.

Monday 7-28
The night was a little rough, but Jacob was a happy baby almost the whole day. He is really starting to get used to sitting up. We even had him down stairs watching TV with us. He liked the shark week show with the jumping sharks and the Twins beating the White Sox of course. Then a long night started. He just does not like to fall asleep.

Sunday 7-27
It took a while for him to sleep, but then he slept for about 4 hours, up 1 to eat and get a diaper change and then back down for a couple of hours. After breakfast we tried out the Bumbo seat. This seats lets him sit upright. He liked it, we think. Jacob and I then relaxed and settled in to watch some NASCAR and Twins in our matching jerseys. (I told you we would get pictures).

OK, so the days are pretty much the same. I get up between 5:30 to 6:30 to feed and change Jacob. Hopefully he goes back to sleep, if not, I wake up Kathie and take over and take a shower. I wake up Kathie, I usually take Jacob so she can shower. Then leave between 7:30 to 7:45.
Jacob then proceeds to fill his diaper a couple of times after Kathie feeds him breakfast and tries to catch naps when they can. I get home about 4:45 and help for the rest of the night. He has been going down to sleep between 9 and 10:30. So that is about every weekday.
Wednesday night he slept for a solid 8 hours. Kathie and I could not believe it. We are getting about 7 hours a night. Here are some pictures from the last couple of days.

Wednesday 7-23
A good night led to a great day. He had more peaches and a couple of naps. Kathie was very happy when I got home. So was Jacob. He had some big smiles and wanted to show it. Kathie and jacob went for a walk and I mowed. Only the back yard needed to be mowed so it did not take me that long.
This evening Jacob has been a little fussy and a puke monster. Kathie was puked on twice in an hour and I got puke once and pooped on once. So it has been a fun night.
Tuesday 7-22
Monday 7-21
A better night and a decent afternoon led into a long night again. We have now decided that no matter what, to keep him up during the evening so he can sleep at night. We had a small 20 somethings church picnic in the evening, and you guessed it, he slept.
He spent most of the day being a happy baby for Kathie. Work was hectic, even for a Monday, but that makes it go fast so I can be home to see Jacob.
I know, I have fallen behind in posts, but if you remember my Lessons learned, then you'll know we are relaxing and sleeping when possible. I should have more up this evening, including pictures.

Sunday 7-20
A nice lazy Sunday. Jacob was a happy baby today. Lots of smiles and full of cuteness. Kathie and I relaxed after a long night. Why we don't learn from letting him sleep a lot during the day, I don't know. We did some housework and watched the Twins game on tv.

Photos updated...
We have added new pictures to the archive and the Watch Jacob Grow show. We only have 10MB more this month, so we will have to choose the new pictures carefully. I am not compressing them so people can print them out. I hope you enjoy them!
Saturday 7-19
The whole family went out for a picnic. It was Kathie's lab's picnic in Stewartville. It was warm, but not too hot. Kathie and I ate a lot of good food and had a good time. Jacob slept for almost the whole time we were there. He woke up when got hungry and was passed around a little bit. He then needed a diaper change and we went home.
We relaxed and cooled off in the house in the evening. I picked up some needed supplies and food for the cats. Overall a good day for us.

Friday 7-18
A hot day and a nice night summed up Friday. With grandma and grandpa Bernhardt watching Jacob, Kathie and I went out by ourselves for the first time is quite a while. We went to Olive Garden for some pasta and an alcoholic beverage. That was Kathie's first in about 10 months. We then went to see Wall-e.
That was an adventure in itself. The reels did not want to start. When they did, a very loud alarm went off and it cleared the theater. It was not the fire alarm, and it was not explained. After about 10 minutes, we when back in and the movie started. We really enjoyed the movie. The grandparents had a great time as well.

Thursday 7-17
If you have not noticed, I have updated the watch Jacob grow pictures and added a picture badge on the right. The badge will update as I add pictures to the archive.
Jacob slept a lot over night and was a good boy all day long. After our walk in the evening he is starting to be Mr Fuss butt. Good thing Grandma and Grandpa Bernhardt are on their way. Kathie had a good despite the thunderstorms today.
Tyler did his usual and hid during the storms. While Jacob was napping in his little chair, Izzie wanted to investigate. He had an arm hanging off of the chair and she got close and starting sniffing. As soon as she started, he bopped her on the nose and she jumped really high. Kathie nearly laughed her butt off.

Wednesday 7-16
Jacob started the day by complaining. Then Missy stopped by to bring Kathie lunch and of course he is was the perfect gentleman. Kathie laughed at that. Tyler was hyper and knocking stuff off of the table. Of course when I came home he was happy. Thank goodness for take out food. We ordered from Applebees and had a good supper. Then he went to sleep before we could give him a bath. So we took advantage of that and slept ourselves.

Tuesday 7/15
A better day was had by all. Kathie and Jacob had a good day. He slept until 9 and then was in a decent mood for the day. No issues at work for me. Overall a good day. We celebrated Jacob being a month old with ice cream at DQ.
We also found out Grandma and Grandpa Bernhardt are coming up for Thursday and Friday night. Mainly to let Kathie and I go out. We so plan to take them up on that. A dinner and a movie are in store. Hopefully we remain awake for the movie.

Monday 7/14
This was a long day for all of us. Jacob did the up to eat, poop, get changed and sleep for 30 to 45 minutes and repeat. Kathie caught a couple of cat naps and made it through the day.
At work, we had a internal issue with a server that we could not find for 4 hours. It looked like out servers were down, which is bad for a web company, but I called Kathie to check from the outside and they were. Luckily it was internal, and we swapped hardware and cables, and still no luck. Then we found an older server had gone down and was causing the issue. We took it out of the loop and everything came back up.
Another long night after this. Hopefully this is only a Monday thing as this happened last week as well.

Saturday and Sunday 7-12/7-13
Ah, the weekend. Where you can sleep in and relax. Kathie and I remember those days. Now it is get up when Jacob is hungry or upset. We got out and went to the mall on Saturday. He even let us eat lunch in peace. We walked a couple of laps and Kathie shopped a little. We then went home and relaxed. Then I had to mow, because it was getting tall again.
Sunday was a lot of indoor time. We when out for a walk and he slept for a while. We kind of paid for it that night. But we have learned to let a sleeping baby sleep.

Friday 7-11
The day started at 5 AM for Me and I stayed up until 10PM. It was a hot, steamy, beefy day. I'll explain. The day was hot, 90 degrees and very humid. There were storms coming Friday night. At work I did the Friday grill out, and sweat it out while we ate. After work, one of our clients was having a steak and hamburger grill out on their farm. See, they are cattle farmers. South west of Rochester was a beautiful farm and we took Jacob of course. He slept the whole time and only stirred when a fly bugged him. We had a great time and enjoyed the Angus steak and hamburger.
Thursday 7-10
The day went well, and he was a happy baby. He was smiling and playing. This made Kathie and I very happy and made the stress of the day go away. We had a loud storm blow through and the sirens went off because of high wind. Of course Kathie was taking a nap and woke up, but Jacob stayed asleep. He also has been holding his head up more and is really moving it around.
Note about the video: Jacob is loading he diaper.
Listen for the cat meow and it is right after that.
Wednesday 7-9
We decided to start supplementing the milk with some cereal. So far he likes it. It was messy the first time or three, but we are getting better. It was a decent day today, he remained pretty calm and Kathie had a decent day
On another note, I spoke a little while ago about my Father getting a new job. Well, they are moving to Coulter Iowa. He took a call there at a two church congregation. He and Grandma Bernhardt are very excited about the new opportunity.

Tuesday 7-8
Well, Tuesday started out better than Monday. We got a good night of sleep. Jacob slept a lot as well. I had a meeting in the Twin Cities and did not get back to work until 1 PM. Kathie had a great day with Jacob. He was calm and slept a good bit for her. She was a lot happier when I got home.

3 weeks old
He slept a lot over night, and that means so did mom and dad. He has been focusing a lot more on us and other things. He seems to like the jungle play area thing a lot. He calms down when we set him in it. The cats are slowly getting used to him. Izzie is more interested and calm around him. Tyler is still kind of wary of Jacob.
Saturday 7-5
It was a long day. We slept ok, and just when we thought we could take a nap, Jacob decided not to sleep. We tried a lot, and only putting him in the car seat and going out worked. We went to Babies R us and looked around. He stayed asleep for a while and started out great for the night. Hopefully he continues to sleep well at night.
