A great weekend trip

This past weekend we all had a great time. We left on Friday after I got home and headed for Coulter, Iowa. It took two hours and Grandma and Grandpa were happy to see Jacob. Luckily he slept almost the whole way so he was wide awake.

Their new house is huge and has almost twice the number of closets than rooms. Very funky and nice house. Jacob slept really well that night and so did we. We went to Mason City to eat and came back and waited for Dan and his girlfriend. Dan had a great time with Jacob.

Another good night and a busy morning to get ready for church. Great Grandma Bernhardt and Great Aunt Annette arrived in the morning. They loved talking to and holding Jacob. The service was good and the potluck after was great. A lot of good food and church ladies to hold Jacob the whole time. We took time for some pictures and headed out in the afternoon. Overall a great weekend and knowledge that Jacob can travel.

Visit with the daycare mom and more

On Tuesday we visited Jacob's daycare mom. She is really excited to care for him. He talked a lot. She said she had a 1 year that talked less than Jacob did in just 15 minutes. It was a good visit and he is ready to start when Kathie goes back to work.

He drools a lot more lately and is really talkative as well. Most days we have happy baby and is taking better naps during the day. He plays with his hands and is trying to get his hand in his mom. Jacob must be hitting a growth sprut as he is eating a ton as well.

We have a weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Bernhardt's. There we will see Dan, and hopefully Great-Grandma Bernhardt. We will be sure to have pictures posted after that.

A good weeknd and more pictures

All of us had a good weekend. I took care of Jacob most of Saturday after I mowed the lawn. It had been almost 2 1/2 week since the last time that was done. Kathie went out shopping for clothes for her and pants for Jacob for the fall and winter. She also got a haircut.

Jacob had his first experience with a hardware store. We went to Home Depot to pick up some plumbing parts for work. I know I work at a web design firm, what do we need with plumbing parts? Well, we need coffee, and that part will allow us to have it. We then went to Best Buy. I guess I pushed my luck a little far because Jacob started hollering. We went home and I fed him and calmed him down.

After Kathie got home we went to Target to pick up some pop and other items. We also got another Wii wheel so Kathie and I could play Mario Kart at the same time. We got to play that on Sunday night. He was a happy baby for almost the whole day. Just a little 5 minute whimper and holler. So a good weekend.

Here are some new pictures... I'll have new videos posted soon!

We are getting close to a routine

Up around 5 or 6 AM for feeding and a diaper change then back for a nap. Then up and awake most of the day, demanding food, attention, diaper changes and to be held. Then supper after we eat and play with Dad and watch us watch TV. Then every other night around 8 or 8:30 PM bath time. A gradual wind down for bed. Finally allowing Mom and Dad to sleep around 10:00 PM. Up a couple of times during the night and repeat the process.

That is our weekdays and weekends are pretty much the same except Mom has help from Dad all day. We go to introduce Jacob to his daycare mommy next Tuesday. We are getting close to having Kathie back at work. Diapers and formula don't pay for themselves.

Another photo update....

The dreaded two month check up

Yes this is the one with 4 shots and an oral vaccine. We had it circled on the calendar as a day to look out for. Kathie and I got some infant Tylenol for Jacob, just for this day.

It did not start out well for Jacob or Kathie. He was a pooping, peeing, urping monster in the morning. He urped on Kathie, and even got it in her hair. He finally settled down before she took him to the doctor's office.

I met them at the clinic and we waited our turn. He is the number part of the post. He weighs 13 pounds and 8 ounces and it 23 3/4 inches long. The doctor looked him over and we are doing a great job.

Then came in the nurse with the needles. Jacob was hungry, so he took the oral medicine well. Then came the 4 shots, two in each leg. Boy did he scream. Then after the band aids were on, and he was in mom's arms, he whimpered a little and was quiet.

He was mostly calm for the rest of the day and spent most of the evening sleeping on me and watching the Olympics and Mario Kart. So I guess it was not such a bad day as we tough it might have been.

A very nice weekend

We had a full house this weekend. Saturday about lunch time, Grandma and Grandpa Trede and Don, Kara and Koryn all arrived to visit for the weekend. That made for a full house.

The cats spend the day on Saturday under the guest bed then I wrangled them and got them into our bed room for the night. They ventured out when everyone was asleep. Then hid in the morning.

Don and Kara enjoyed playing the Wii and Koryn enjoyed playing with Grandma and Grandpa. We had a nice walk to the park and Koryn had a great time on the jungle gym play with her dad, Grandpa and me. We even sat on the swings.

Jacob was passed around and was held by everyone, including Koryn. Grandma took over during the night, and Kathie and myself slept through the night. After they left, Jacob had to nap on dad. We want to thank everyone for coming up to visit.

Picture update

We have a couple new pictures and the Watch Jacob Grow has been updated. We have been doing very well as of late. We have found that if we slow Jacob's eating, he gets less fussy and less prone to urp. We continue to play on the Wii and enjoy the cool basement.

Jacob, while laying on his back has rolled on to his side at least once so far. He is getting big and has quite the personality already. He loves to be upright and most days can not be held enough. Kathie is doing better and they are getting into a decent routine.

Mom and Dad got a new toy...

While I was out on Sunday waiting for my hair cut, I had to pick some items up at Target. Well, I always walk through the electronics side, just because I love electronics and saw a Nintendo Wii. 2 to be exact. I decided to get the other items and come back and see if they were still there. Well, they were down to one when I got back. Kathie and I had been talking about getting one, so..... I did.

Now we have played bowling, Mario Kart, baseball and golf so far. We take turns playing and holding Jacob. Monday night, Jacob slept on me as I raced Mario Kart. We both enjoy it and figured we will have more time to play as Jacob gets older and bigger.

No pictures from the past couple of days. We have been busy surviving and playing. My father started at his new churches on Sunday. Hopefully everything went well. They are still getting moved in. No Internet, limited TV and cell coverage is terrible.

Kathie's parents are doing well, and helping family bail hay. They will be up this weekend to get some Jacob time. Hopefully Jacob's cousin, Koryn is able to come up and stay with us, and of course she brings her mom and dad.

Saturday 8-2

We had a good night of sleep and Jacob was a happy baby in the morning. We then decided to go to Babies R Us and pick up some items. Boy did he scream on the way to the store. Luckily he was sleepy in the store. We picked up a mirror for the car to see him in the car seat, and car seat base for my car, and some new pacifiers (Yes, Don we found blue ones).

Then while watching the rainy NASCAR race, he sat up a little on the couch, urped on himself and Dad, and slept on Mom. I should mow, the grass is getting tall, and they are talking about a very hot day tomorrow. Hopefully a nice night is ahead.

The rest of the week

Ok, I want to catch up. On Wednesday Kathie received a clean bill of health. The doctor was happy to see Jacob as well. While we were there, we unscientifically weighed Jacob. And the results... 12 1/2 pounds. No wonder my arms fell asleep while holding him in church on Saturday.

On Friday, it was the poopiest day we have had. 5 outfits before 1 PM. Jacob pooped through and over his diapers most of the morning. It was a long day for Kathie, who could do nothing but laugh when I got home. We had the new pasta dish from Pizza Hut, and it was decent, a change from pizza.
